Transitional Cell Carcinoma in Orthotopic Ileal Neobladder

Urothelial carcinoma developing in orthotopic ileal neobladder is an extremely rare entity. Fewer than 10 cases have been reported in the literature describing urothelial carcinoma recurrence in orthotopic ileal neobladder. We report a case of transitional cell carcinoma recurrence in orthotopic ileal neobladder after 11 years of surgery.

Transitional cell carcinoma in orthotopic ileal neobladder 12 years after radical cystectomy.

INTRODUCTION Some cases of secondary adenocarcinoma developing in the replaced bowel segment of urinary diversions have been reported so far. Secondary adenocarcinoma develops 20 years after surgery in about 0.5% of those in whom an ileal segment is used. There have been several reports in the literature describing extensions of transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) from the distal urether into an ...

Squamous Cell Carcinoma of an Ileal Neobladder

Bladder reconstruction using bowel segments, especially the ileum, has become a realistic option for urinary diversion. There is only one prior case of squamous cell carcinoma of the ileal neobladder that has been reported in the clinical literature. Here we report a patient with a spectrum of squamous cell lesions, including squamous cell carcinoma, sarcomatoid carcinoma, squamous papilloma an...

Transitional cell carcinoma in an ileal conduit.

Following cystectomy for transitional cell carcinoma a 63 year old woman developed recurrent tumours in the upper urinary tract and ileal conduit, suggesting that malignant transitional cells can auto-implant in ileal epithelium. This phenomenon has not been previously reported. We illustrate the value of retrograde urogram via an ileal conduit following cystectomy for cancer.

Urodynamic characteristics of the modified orthotopic ileal neobladder.

The most frequent continent orthotopic urinary diversion after radical cystectomy is the ileal neobladder. A modified technique consists of using a shorter segment of the terminal ileum than the standard technique, around 30 cm. The aim of this study w...
